Accel Research Sites enrolling trials for next generation of COVID vaccines

Trials for preventative vaccines available at seven sites

As we enter the winter months, COVID boosters and flu shots are top-of-mind for many people looking to stay healthy in the new year.

Accel Research Sites will soon be enrolling for several vaccine trials across seven sites, including COVID boosters, combination flu/COVID vaccines and pediatric COVID boosters. In addition, Accel will offer flu shot trials and meningococcal disease vaccine trials.

“We are excited to be involved in this next phase of vaccine innovation with the most advanced pharmaceutical companies worldwide,” said Lora Parahovnik, President of Accel Research Sites. “We hope these trials will eventually make a difference by helping prevent cases of these diseases for people around the world.”

Trials will take place at Accel clinics in Florida, specifically in Orlando, DeLand, Largo, Lakeland and Maitland, and in Birmingham, Alabama.

Principal investigators are Dr. Bruce Rankin and Dr. Marshall Nash. Several trials are enrolling now.

“These trials aim to anticipate the next threat COVID might pose, as well as to expand the reach of current vaccines to new populations,” Dr. Rankin said. “With combination trials, we also hope to make it easier than ever for patients to protect themselves against a variety of illnesses.”

Studies are at no cost to the participant, and participants may receive study-related diagnostics and other valuable health-related care. Participants may receive compensation if qualified. Insurance is not required, and transportation is available for most participants.

Those interested in participating should visit https://accelresearchsites.com/get-started/ and a member of the Accel team will reach out to determine eligibility.
