Principal investigator recognized by Pfizer and FOMA for contributions to COVID-19 vaccine

At Accel Research Sites, we are dedicated to bringing together families, healthcare providers and researchers to improve the quality of life for current and future patients.

Our staff members work hard to live out that mission every day. Recently, one of our principal investigators was honored for work toward that mission that went above and beyond, helping even on the world stage.

We’re excited to announce that Principal Investigator Dr. Bruce Rankin, DO, FACOFP, was recognized by Pfizer and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association for his tireless research work toward the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Rankin has led research efforts on studies for several COVID-19 vaccines, including Pfizer’s. He has dedicated countless hours to working toward a solution for the worldwide pandemic.

Dr. Rankin is a family physician and the medical director at Accel Research Sites in DeLand. He has more than 30 years of experience in the medical field and has led more than 500 clinical trials. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Rankin also serves on the board of FOMA. He served as a thought leader early in the pandemic and throughout the vaccine development process.

News organizations turned to his expertise from the inception of the pandemic to the solution. Fox 35 interviewed Dr. Rankin in July 2020 as vaccine development got underway. As the virus continued to spread, Dr. Rankin served as a voice from the medical community to give his insights on trials, as seen in his interview with WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando. He also joined panelists like Dr. Oz on a morning show to answer audience questions.

Accel Research Sites is incredibly proud of Dr. Rankin and all of our staff members who continue to be part of the solution to COVID-19 and contribute to other medical breakthroughs.
